By  |

The Remix Mini is a tiny computer that will do everything you need it to, while only costing you $40. Its custom operating system – the Remix OS, is based on Android’s Lollipop, which you’ve likely already seen in action if you’ve ever played around on an Android phone or tablet. In addition to Android’s intuitive interface and access to 1.5 million apps, Remix OS added a few things like a taskbar, keyboard support, and multitasking with multiple windows to give you a familiar PC experience.

Despite its small size, the average user will find that they’ll be able to get everything they want out of this tiny computer. With access to 1.5 million apps, of which many are completely free on the Android market, you can customize your machine with anything from games, to business and productivity tools without spending a penny.

People often spend a lot of money on hardware that they never truly take advantage of, so it made sense to slim things down and significantly cut the cost. The team behind Remix Mini carefully engineered the hardware and software so it could do more without taking up a lot of space or resources. It holds the latest 64-bit chipset and performs 20% to 30% better than its 32-bit counterparts.

The Remix Mini comes in two versions; the 1GB RAM + 8GB storage retailing for $40, and the 2GB RAM + 16GB storage retailing for $50. If for example, you want to use it as a home media center, then the first device is probably all you’ll need – it’s powerful enough to allow you to stream, download, and watch that movie you want to see. If you want to be more productive – the 2GB RAM unit will not disappoint you.

Both options come with an audio jack with microphone support, HDMI, Ethernet, and USB ports. And to link up wirelessly, you’ve got Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi 102.11b/g/n, which means you can easily get online, connect to just about any monitor or television, and just put it in your pocket when you’re done.

The Remix Mini features a capacitive power button; to turn it on just tap the top of the device and it’s ready to go. Software upkeep is just as easy – the Remix OS will be updated every 2-4 weeks through over-the-air updates, and Android already checks for app updates and ensures you have the latest and safest versions.
